Adding grip to stock

Recently bought a stockys carbon fiber m50 stock for my vanguard in 300wsm. I'm kinda realizing it would be nice to have some grip on the forend and the grip area. They're pretty smooth and might even be slippery when wet. The stock has the strata camo which I really like and was hoping there was some way of adding grit without covering it up. Any of you ever use a clear coat with some kind of texture grit in there? That thin whippy blued barrel will soon be replaced with a #5 sporter contour and a break from mcgowen.

Maybe some fast setting clear epoxy with the popsicle stick trick? Tape off the shape and area where you want the texture. Had a thin layer of clear epoxy and using the flat side of a popsicle stick you keep dabbing the epoxy creating peaks until it sets. You can hit it with some sandpaper if the peaks are too sharp.
