Active Insulation

Got my Final Approach Acuta out in the wild for 7 days last week. Not sure I understand the "active" part of insulation, I sweat if it's 30 out while hiking and couldn't wear this for 5 minutes. So it's more of a "first layer on" after hiking piece. Pretty happy with it in that regard, much better at wicking moisture while keeping you warm than a grid fleece. Cuts wind decent too.

The sleeve cuffs and material bunching up around the sleeves still bother me a bit. And one pocket inner is a different material than the other...that one is just strange.

If you don't mind a sewing machine you can buy most of these fabrics by the roll. I picked several (octa and alpha direct) and had my wife make several different tank tops based on my swazi. That way you can compare them straight across. The alpha was the last one, and it hasn't been seriously treated yet, but it's amazingly warm compared to the others.
