Acent Verdict vs Assault

I am looking at putting a roller sight on my bow and have settled on a Montana Black Gold. I am wondering what the difference is between the Ascent Verdict and Ascent Verdict Assault? I would be buying one with a 3 pin configuration.

The sight would be used for western hunting from elk in the Rockies to the prairie with some 3D shoots thrown in there as well.

Would the 2" housing be worth it over the factory size?

This would be my first roller sight and input would be appreciated.

I would definitely not get the 2" housing w/ 3 pins, you don't want or need the space. You will either end up with all 3 pins sitting in the far bottom or sacrificing max range if you center them. I run the big dog housing but I have 6 pins.

I'm not sure of the difference between the two sights, but I would be sure to get the 3rd axis adjustment and NOT the micro adjust windage or pins. All that does is add weight, potential buzzes, and you don't need them once you get your gaps are set anyway. The non-micro windage adjustments are super easy to make small adjustments to if you are careful.

I have the S&S archery spec’d ascent verdict in the 3 pin and absolutely love it. Definitley stick with the standard housing. Micro gang adjust is nice, mine is dead quiet and the sight has dialed out to 90 yards perfectly.

I’m pretty sure the assault is just a verdict with micro adjust. I have don’t have micro and never wished I had. One more, or 2 rather, component to potentially have problems with. I’m actually considering ordering a new one in 2” but the above posts have me reconsidering. My thoughts were a bigger housing would allow for a bigger peep which would improve visibility at last light. I also shoot 3 pins

I have two verdicts both with the 2” housing. One is a four pin and the other a five pin. I shoot a 1/4” peep with the dovetail extended out about 5” on my hunting bow. Neither of mine are micro adjust as I agree with some of the above statements, they are just more things to buzz or make noise. I specifically went for the bigger housing to run a bigger peep with zero complaints to date.

I’d recommend giving S&S a call. They will get you set up and will help answer any questions you have. Last I checked some of the MBG sights were discounted.
