accurate rifled slugs out of a rifled ckoke.

I'd also be happy to make my smooth bore shoot better. Any one used these in smooth bore/rifled choke? Rem says "rifled barrels only".

Federal tru-ball slugs seem to be the most accurate out of the smooth bores I’ve tried em in. Never shot them through a rifled choke, but they’re cheap enough that’d I’d give em a try.

I grew up shooting slugs and usually opener in MN I still do for the first day and a half. IMO (and I have tried them) rifled chokes are worthless. Either buy a rifled barrel and shoot sabots or just shoot a straight smooth bore. I will 2md what was said above the Federal Truball slugs shoot lights out. my 20 guage 870 the 2 3/4 Federal truballs shoot 2" groups at 100 yards with a standard modified choke.

If you really want accuracy maybe just upgrade to a rifled barrel and shoot sabots. I’ve been super accurate with my 20 gauge and hornady sabot slugs

I’ve had good luck with the Winchester BRI sabots out of a rifled choke tube in my 870. 2-3” groups at 50 yds.
I hunted with slugs once a year on a NWR that required slugs and a rifled tube was cheaper than a new barrel. I killed multiple deer every year on that hunt, and none ever went very far after being hit.

My old man used to shoot sabots out of that same setup, and always had great luck. As always, theres no "one size fits all" with ammo, but if I were you, I'd start with the Hornady SST's.

Okay good news my dad went to a yard sale and found 5 boxes of tru ball rifled slugs. So we shot at 100 yards and got 2 3/4 groups through an improved cylinder. So it looks like thats what im shooting this year. But thanks for all the input.

Great slugs, I’ve killed two bucks with them and I’m very impressed with the accuracy. Absolutely lethal as well, but I think any giant slug through a deer would do well.

So i shot through a cylinder an improved cylinder an a modified at 50 yards with the tru balls. I got an average of 3.8 inch group. So there is a sale at Bass Pro Shops for a Savage 220. So Im gonna buy that in a couple days.
