Accurate fixed blade broadheads

Well, if you are like me, and start shaking like a hooker in church when pointing at an animal, even a field point would be a challenge. But I am hell on foam!

I’ve shot iron will for the last couple years. For me when I got them tuned they would shoot great out to 80. Killed a bull two years ago with them and he didn’t go 20. Shot a bull last year high shoulder and only got about 3” penetration. It was a bad shot on my part and the bull is still kicking I got pictures of him later in the year. The only issue I have had is the lack of blood when I did shoot those two bulls. I know it’s an issue with the IW and that’s a big reason I am switching to QAD because honestly the thing that matters most to me in flying well and blood trail. I love the company and what they do and I still use their inserts and impact collars so definitely not hating on them!

Appreciate that info on the ironwills. When I started this post I was leaning towards using them as my new broadhead. I’ve since switched it up and am leaning heavily towards the QAD’s. Just not sure if I am going to use the full or the swept blades. The rust issues on the iron wills really turned me off from them.

My blades rusted quite a bit this year which bugged me. It rained quite a bit this year and I even made a good effort to dry them out over the stove every night but they still
Managed to rust even when I had put the oil that they sell on them.

Yeah that would bug me too, especially with how much those broad heads cost. I was hunting in those early season rains too, got my bull on one of those days.

Just shoot a rage or Hyde. I switched from fixed heads 6 years ago. No tuning required. They kill and deflate big bulls with ease. Many more have dropped in sight with no tracking. Massive 2" cuts. Usually dont get a pass thru on bulls, but they die in sight. Why bother with all that tuning when its unnecessary with a rage trypan. Fixed heads limit your accuracy at range, with groups opening up at 50+ yards....no thanks. Theres better technology...and they come with expandable blades. Not ripping fixed head shooter's.

People also love tinkering, buying new bows and equipment....always sighting in, tuning, changing arrows etc. My bow is 12 years old. I can pick it up after 8 months of no shooting and hit the bullseye at 50. I shot underspined arrows for 6 years and killed a 6x6 bull every year on public. Bows havnt changed much since '14. Same IBO speeds. They maxed out years ago and people keep buying the same product, with different designs. It might be very slightly more balanced or something...either way im good. The real challenge of archery is getting proficient with traditional equipment. Recurve and longbow. Compounds aren't really archery with the letoff and sights. Instead of tuning your arrows and bow, you can wet a line, spend time with kiddos or focus on becoming a better shot.

Which rage broadheads are you using? I read they discontinued the ones with the collar, and the new no collar design sometimes come open mid flight.
