I want to get some merino bottoms for a mid September elk hunt in WY. I have some attack pants & thought I may need a little more for cold mornings. How to the zip off bottoms work ? Sounds like a good idea. Do the zippers hold up ?

I've got the 210s in medium for sale. I've used the larges some and they seem good. They don't seem as if they would hold up if you wore them as your only layer but under pants will be fine.
depending on where your from and hunting style the attacks may be all you need but if gassing or sitting ambush spots something warmer may be nice.

Love the Kuiu zip-off! So nice to be able to ditch the bottoms during the day without a lot of hassle. They are a bit bulky around the waist with the elastic and velcro tabs over the zippers. Just be aware that they are short in the legs and are intended to end about mid-calf. Personally, I wish they were a couple of inches longer so that I could tuck them into my socks better.

They work great! Be aware the 210's run a bit small. I would suggest ordering up a size, they are very tight in the calves which is where you start to zip them on. I think the 145's have more stretch to them but I may be corrected.

145s are more stretchy than the 210s.
I like them shorter for getting on and off but could see if you didn't have over the calf socks a little more length would be nice.
They function with the zipper starting on the bottom then have a velcro flap that folds over the top. Both legs completely separate on the outside.
