My Raptor 8 .375 is back getting a reflex swap right now (it already made one round trip, but they installed the wrong reflex the first time). It’s dumb that they’ve allowed themselves to get in a legal position where a single reflex is “matched” to a suppressor and can’t be interchanged without sending it in (and spares can’t be purchased).
I think I’m most interested to try it without the reflex on my 10” .357 Max contender barrel. I still plan on a threaded barrel for either my 9.3x62 or .358 Norma Mag, but am having a hard time convincing myself to thread otherwise mint Husqvarna 1600s. Maybe a Tikka gets rebarreled instead.
I got a Tikka M690 in 9.3x62 that someone had apparently drilled brake ports into the barrel and removed the sights. At least I cannot imagine that it came from the factory that way…
It seemed a perfect candidate to chop to 20” and have it threaded. I think I overpaid a bit for it (I think there might have been something funny going on with the auction, but I can’t prove it), but it’s a slick rifle.
I sold my Husqvarna because I didn’t want to cut it (even though mine was far from mint) and the action just wasn’t smooth. The Tikka is so slick it’s scary. I think I could hurt myself if I shot it as fast as I can cycle it.
My other plan was just to buy a cheap T3X in a long action cartridge like .270 or .30-06 and then have it barreled by pac-nor or Douglas. Then sell the take off barrel and call it good.
I’ve got eyes on another 9.3x62 that is locally available, but I absolutely don’t need it. It’s just pretty, but not so pretty it could not be used.
