I was going through the proposed / introduced bills for the upcoming legislative session and a few jumped out at me:

1. Oregon Legislative Information System

This is bill is a direct attack on public land.

2. Oregon Legislative Information System

This bill could be used to sell off land managed in state trust.

3. Oregon Legislative Information System

Some may not disagree with, but I personally do not like it due to the already ever increasing amount of points it takes to draw certain units.

Funny how the first two things after the synopsis are the "revenue impact" and "fiscal impact" . They don't see the recreational impact.

That's the standard format for all bills. It would be nice to see a subsection for that when it comes natural resource bills.

See I think the first one, HB 2365 is the real garbage one

I agree. But the last one could have some implications for those that play the points game in Oregon.

I'm one of those points chasers, and I'd rather get set back a couple of seasons if the let 75 year olds hunt then have them take away federal lands and all that hunting access ... Basically it would mean not hunting any more, so for me HB 2365 closes hunting and HB 2487 delays me hunting.

I honestly like the idea of a program for elderly hunters similar to our youth mentor program, the way you fix that bill is just make it non "trophy" units or low preference point draw units.

And then to fix point creep go to a bonus point system or even better ditch it all together (phase it out)

I would agree with phasing out the system. I think a much better system could be put in place.
