Has anybody tried making a double bag, without the bottom insulation. Just a layer of rip stop/taffeta/etc?
Or a quilt with an attached bottom sheet, if you prefer.

My wife wants a double, but i dont want to lug it around.

I think this may be a "best of both worlds" idea, but, then again, in haven't had my coffee yet...

i actually ordered all the materials to do this should be getting them this week
going to make a rectangle comforter basically and use it in our trailer.

hopefully once I'm done with it the idea is to then make one with a sleeve for air pads to slip in like a big agnes bag
i ordered 5oz apex for this one
3.5oz for the one going in the trailer

not sure I'm going to sew in zippers, maybe just snaps
hopefully starting this weekend

basically the insulated top will be
58" wide
82" long

the bottom non insulated sleeved for 20"-25" pads will be
46"-48" wide
72"-74" long

once i get the fabric and lay it out i will adjust the length as needed
the idea for us is fair weather backpacking with our two children and dog

i bought some to make the kids their own rectangle bags as well
i think the weight and the price to make is worth the time and effort

hopefully these will be light too

Hunt n fish -
Something like that, but with a "pocket" to sleep in.
My wife is a bit of an odd duck when it comes to backpacking sleeping conditions, and I think that this would help ME out when it comes to packing the dang thing, and HER out in that it's pretty close to what she's used to - sleeping in a bag.

did you get around to starting your project? im interested in how they turn out
