Well haven't notched my deer tag yet. Got until Nov 3rd but I figured I'd post some pictures up so far of our hunt...

This country is unbelievably huge... 2550' elevation gain in 1.05 miles for an afternoon hunt. And we were on the shortest ridge top in a monster drainage...

Found a nice 315"ish bull and 14 cows in this drainage...

Even found a bear to notch my tag on!

This last weekend's trip we decided to go high in the unit and backpack camp in... 8k' was different weather than 1400' on the River!

Glassed up an elk shed:

My camera died on this day but we also left a NICE 6 pt shed on the mountain because it was in the middle of an awesome drainage where we spotted a nice 160" buck and this monster 2x3...

Coffee and a fire underneath a pine to get out of the rain/wind and take a nap!

That 2x3 was bedded underneath the pine in the middle of this picture...

Headed back tomorrow to hopefully find a few big bucks to notch out tags on! Been snowing up high all week so it should have them down hopefully and chasing tail!

Thanks David, I hope we can turn up some good deer this weekend!

Access from the boat is pretty awesome. However in that river and that canyon there are some knarly rapids above and below camp. If you are wanting to hunt anywhere other than from camp, you have to wait till first like to run the rapids in the boat. You also have to allow yourself enough light at the end of the day to get back to camp! Really handicapping if you aren't aware of that the first time like we weren't! Got a better game plan for this weekend. Been calling for snow up high all week, only 1-3" a day but I hope its enough to push some deer down onto the breaks!

Yeah it does! We even hooked into a Sturgeon on the way out but he hung us up in the rocks!

Few more pics of last weekend... Hopefully you can see this 3 point's rack. He was beautiful and about 25" wide. My favorite 3 point style too with the solo mains! If he would've had mass he would've ate a berger. I have a thing for big framed 3's...

Rolling out of the snow storm back to the trailhead cause we were fogged in all day. Expected the fog to stay for a few days with the latest weather report we had, but of course it cleared up 200 yards from the trailhead!

Guess which side the wind was blowing?

Thanks Actionshooter! I've got a good bear down and a nice archery bull on the wall for this year already. I am having a blast passing on bucks and just hope we can find two that'll be worthy of notched tags!

Bustin rocks from camp. Was shooting 895 at the far hillside. Was very stoked to have a cold bore hit on a 10" rock at 895!

Not exactly a 'live' hunt but I'm glad ya enjoy the photos! We're having a blast and enjoying the hunt/experience which is what its all about to us!
