I don't NEED another gun. But i do have a Rock River AR and a quick detach scope just sitting around at home.

I have the 223 RSS, I have a bolt gun for killing stuff, but have a hog hunt coming up and would like to play with something new.

Kinda have it narrowed down just for kicks to a 6 ARC or a 6.5 Grendel

Ohio won't let me hunt deer with it. So it'd be coyotes, groundhogs, and maybe a pig hunt here and there.

I'm thinking I'll be happier with the performance on the 6 ARC. I liked my Bear Creek upper that I bought in 350 Legend. Any recommendations on caliber and which upper/brand to get?

Also, I'd like recommendations on a trigger as well. That splashy thing on the RR is gonna go.

Pick one and party on. The Arc and Grendel are so close it comes down to your favorite. I shoot a Grendel because at the time the 6mm versions were still 100% wildcats. Otherwise I would have snagged a 6 ARC because I love 6mm in general.

Larue MBT2s is one of the fan favorites for budget triggers. Price is going up in 2026. Their single stage version sucks.
Geiselle SSAe is another internet favorite.

I built a 6.5 grendel a few years ago, really fun gun to shoot. It's a great gun for river bottom whitetails in Nebraska too. My buddy built a 6mm ARC, great gun too. If you are not going to deer hunt with it then I'd lean ARC.

my buddy has a 6arc and it’s an impressive round. He just started to reload for it. Hes killed quite a few critters with his from prairie dogs, to coyotes to mule deer to an elk.

I had a 65G for a bit and killed several deer with it, but eventually just went back to 556.

6 ARC for me.

I've only had a few ARs so not a big connoisseur. For aftermarket triggers only had timney single stage and larue MBT, much prefer the MBT.

If i wasn't spending Geissele $, one of these would be interesting: https://www.eurooptic.com/seekins-precision-dmr-6mm-arc-18-bbl-complete-upper-receiver-0011100113-f
This is the upper to buy.☝️

I have an Odin on a built seekins lower. It's good but there was a little finessing to get it to shoot. Overall I'm enjoying it. It's purpose is Texas hogs and yotes at night and a back up deer/ranch gun for my son. I'll likely buy this upper eventually to have two night/thermal setups as my son gets older and hunts solo more
