A few more gel tests

Gel was made as close as feasibly possible to the instructions on hornadys website stored in my garage between 38-43deg. I did skip the foam and mold additives.

Finding a bb rifle that will consistently shoot at 590fps + - 15 for calibration has been a real thorn in my side. A few law enforcement sites have noted they use a crossman 760 for calibration so I bought one of those. The bb guns will only trigger my labradar (less than ideal for this) about 20%of the time. So I have shot hundreds of bbs through all 3 of my rifles getting to the conclusion that none of them will consistently shoot 590fps + - 15fps not even close. The 760 at 8 pumps 40deg temp is below 590 and 9 pumps is over 590 with a spread of + - 30fps. These law enforcement places using a 760 for calibration are either not honest about bb speed or their rifles are much better than mine. I am going to use 9 pumps witch averaged 612fps.

Bb pentrated about 3.7-3.8", fbi standard is 2.95-3.74.

Makes sense. Glad I wasted 2 days of my life trying to figure this out.

I am 65. I wish I had all the days back that I used up figuring out that there’s gotta be an easier way to do this. But then I wouldn’t have gotten so good at this. I’ve gotten much more efficient and now only spend .8 to 1.2 days per occurrence. About twice a month. Or you can just sit on the couch and watch reruns of “Alone”.
