A boot similar to the Crispi Lapponia

Can anyone recommend me a boot similar to the Crispi lapponia? I had a pair of lapponias and I really like the weight and stiffness, however Crispi boots chew up the back of my heels.

I had the Salomon Quests, and although they were comfortable, they leaked right away walking through damp grass. Last year I hunted with a pair of Scarpas, but the sole is a little too stiff and hurts my feet after a few days. Thanks

I'm really enjoying my salewa crow gtx. They have the best heel cup I've found. Just spent 3 days in the backcountry chasing bears climbing and decending 3k feet a day and my feet are in perfect shape. They are light weight, breath great and are stiff. When picking boots this year, I tried 5 different ones from crispis, scarpa and selawas, these blew the others out of the water for me.

Thanks. I'm looking for a boot with a flexible sole, similar to the lapponia and Salomon.

I also tried on the Renegades & they weren't love at first sight. But I read quite a bit about being a good flexible boot, so might have to try them again. Any thoughts or other ideas?

I wear the heck out of salomons and love them except for the aforementioned waterproof issue. Laponias are next on my list as a rainy day hiker as well. Hopefully theyll fit my feet as well as the salomons.

Do you have a pair of those schnees, Fight?
They look similar to my meindls in construction so its hard to imagine them having as much "feeling" or flex as say salomons or the laponia, even though they say its a flex 1. Any real world experience from anyone thats worn salomons or laponias as well as the schnees would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I don’t, I was hoping someone had looked into them. I love the Lapponias but would dig a similar boot with a little more height and I’m eyeballing the Timberlines. They’re just so new that no one has much hands on.

Does Schnees only sell direct? If so, do they ever have any sales?

the hanwag lhasa looked really interesting during my recent search but I never found them in wide/GTX to give them a try. Yak leather, vibram sole with good flex, ball bearing pulls and lace lock, and rubber toe cap.

You can get them leather lined as well

Following along here as I was just about to possibly pull the trigger on a pair of Lapponia's. But as Krojemann mentioned I'm a little worried about the heel issue as I've had the exact same experience with Crispi Guides. Seemed to be a great boot but really chewed up my heels when going up steep slopes.

Sounds like my Salomon Quest's aren't the only leakers! I' had the 2's and heard the 3's may be a bit more waterproof? Seemed to be a good all around boot otherwise.

Currently running the Scarpa R-Evolutions from Kuiu but as mentioned they are bit stiff for my liking. Would love the Scarpa's if they had more flex. And so far they are one of the only boots to keep my feet dry after walking in wet conditions for multiple hours. I also wish they made an insulated version of the same boot.

Tried Vasque, Danner, Under Armor and a few other light hikers and can't seem to find "the one". Might just have to run Scarpa's for now. Or just quit being so damn picky! I think I now have more footwear than the wife. Lol!

Man, you're an exact copy of me. Crispi chewed my heels, hunted in Salomons a few years ago & had wet feet more than dry feet...but they were comfy. Last year hunted in the scarpa r-evolution and my feet were dry, fit was good, but just a little too stiff & after a week of pounding it out, both my big toes were numb for about a month. A little more flex, and they would have been perfect

So looking for the perfect boot, yet. I just ordered a pair of Danner Alsea. They seem to have a fairly flexible sole, but yet good support. And all the reviews I could find didn't mention anything about leaking. Fingers crossed.

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Danner's once you've had the opportunity to use them for a while. Look like a nice boot.
For whatever reason, I seem to think I need something with a full rand. I like the idea of having a surface there around the bottom of the boot for a little extra protection from the rocks and what not.

I just ordered a pair of Danner Alsea.

I ordered these a few months ago, and sent them back without every trying them on. They looked and felt cheap. The difference between these and a Lowa, Crispi, etc...its obvious. The Danners went back right away.

Just ordered me a pair of Hanwag Alverstone II GTX. Seem to be very similar to the Scarpa R-Evolutions with a little more flex according to what the customer service rep told me. I'll post up some initial thoughts on them when I get them.

Interesting. Mine will be here today. I always thought the same between Salomon vs Lowa, Scarpa, Crispi, etc.

But...if those said brands tear your feet up or hurt because of stiffness, I'll gladly take the cheaper Danners & replace them every 2-3 years, as long as my feet are comfortable & stay dry.

I have a pair of Timberlines being delivered today. I'll report back how they compare to the Lapponia

I tried a pair of danner crag rat USA boots after crispis didn't fit my foot type right. Have maybe 50-75 miles in them. I did also get a pair of UA Bozman 2s I also have worn when it's dry and hot but the Danners have gotten all the wet, long, steep, Rocky hikes this spring and done well. Broke in fast

Yesterday I did 13.5 miles in them chasing turkeys, gave my feet and eye lids a little break around noon but zero complaints just airing out as my feet had gotten sweaty.

Stiffness was pretty similar to crispi new in box but broken in well I don't know how much crispi soften up as I didn't get to take them out of the house. Ankle support in the crispi seemed better but I didn't need all the support the crispis had at the ankle so I don't necessarily feel I'm missing anything.

They do do have a very nice full rand.
