Has anyone loaded staball match into a 9.3x62? From what I know it seems like a direct replace for varget in a ball powder. Have not found any load data with the two but tons of load data with other cartridges with varget and staball they seem almost interchangable. Any experiences would be great to know.

Hodgdon has Varget load data for the 9.3 on their website, don’t see StaBall match on there for it though. If you do mess with a staball load post it here, I’m putting a tikka 9.3x62 together this winter!

I don't have direct experience with the 9.3 x 62, but I've tried StaBALL Match in my 35 Whelen AI and it showed pressure at significantly lower velocities (150 fps) than Varget while using otherwise identical components and seating depth.

I can't guarantee the same for the 9.3, but I'd be ASTONISHED if it wasn't.

Nice! I have a stainless model 70 getting rebored right now for one. Handy rifles with the short barrels that still pack a punch on moose and bear. From what I know varget is the de facto powder for it.

I imagine the experience in a 9.3x62 wont be far off your whelen.

I've had such good results with Varget and 8208 XBR that I'd be hard pressed to change it up.

I'm told CFE 223 and PP 2000-MR are the kings of speed in this cartridge if you're looking for ball powders.

I use CFE223 with 250 grain bullets and RS Big Game with 286gr bullets. If one of the staball powders could match the velocities I would be happy.
22” Zastava
250-258 65gr CFE 223 2580-2605fps
286 65gr Ramshot Big Game 2500fps

What kind of data do you have for XBR? That was another powder I've been interested in. I load for 6 arc and 308 as well. It would be nice to have one powder that does all 3.

I like the cfe 223 velocities but I can't accept the temp instability. Varget, XBR, StaBall Match are the three that I'm trying to choose from. Good temp stability, all three will work for my 6 arc, 308 win, and just need to make it work on the 9.3.

I run XBR for lighter bullets under 200gr (35 WAI) and Varget for anything over. They're very close, XBR is just a little faster burning, so I get 50fps more velocity with Varget on my 215gr HHT loads than XBR.

I'd offer up some powder charge data, but I'm at work currently with no access to my reloading notebook and don't know if it would help much considering the difference between 35 WAI and 9.3x62. I can dig some data up tonight for both XBR and Varget if you're interested, despite the cartridge difference.
