Interesting approach. I don't disagree just not my preference. If I have a tripod there is no downside to a 10x. My tripod somewhat serves as my trekking pole meaning it's always ready to go. If there is something to glass the binos are on the tripod within 30 seconds. I don't hunt close in timber so I don't have a need for 8x. Ideally I would love a 8x, 10x, and 12x. Grab the one most applicable to the hunt.
