So I've been using some Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42's for the past two years with good results I feel. They are the first pair of real binos I've owned and got them for a great deal on Camofire at the time. The obvious benefits of 8x glass were great for hunting pigs/blacktails in CA, but since I'm moving to Arizona this summer, I'm wondering if 8x would be underpowered. I've noticed many AZ hunters using some pretty large binos (10x 15x etc.)
It would make sense to need a stronger power when searching for coues deer in some pretty wide open spaces. Especially given the animals cryptic nature.

My question to you folks is should I start to consider stronger glass? I do hunt with a spotter as well but it to is on the low end in terms of quality being an older Bushnell Elite 15-45x60mm. So far that has suited my needs. Any advice would be helpful, the realm of optics is incredibly addicting but intimidating when it comes to the price tag.

I'd spend the money on good glass rather than focusing on power.

If your going to spend any amount of time chasing coues deer, buy the best 15x you can then mount them on a good try pod. To hunt AZ deer effectively your going to spend a lot of time behind those binocs and eye fatigue from low quality glass makes for a long day on the hill side. You can be effective with lower power glass, but there's a reason you find hardcore coues guys carrying that big glass!!!

If it were me I would keep what I had until I got out there. Find some areas to scout and use what you have to see where you find yourself lacking then go from there.
