7PRC Nosler Accubonds

A few months back I bought some Nosler 7PRC ammo in 160 Accubonds to try out in a new build.





Fast forward a few months, I received the rifle and spent the last few nights shooting and getting it dialed in. Tried 180 ELDms, 160 LRX, and the 160 Accubonds. The Accubonds were the clear winner shooting close to .4 across 5 groups. I set my zero stop, and ordered 3 boxes from Midway.





Today I received them, completely different seating depth from what I had been testing all week. Literally a quarter inch difference. Has anyone else heard of this?





I have a call into Nosler but no response yet. I haven’t shot them, but I’m sure by the fact they are a quarter inch shorter than SAMMI spec, that will certainly affect things and possibly velocity.

Lot to lot variation exists but this seems extreme. You’re certain they’re the same grain bullet?

Top box was the original ammo that was sighted in, the bottom three are the ones that arrived today. They are 1/4” short and also have a cannelure when the original box did not…

Gotta wonder about Nosler quality control with Nosler being expensive ammo.

Would venture that the cannelure is the culprit, they probably seated to the cannelure on the newer boxes.

i don't think that bullet is suppose to have a canneluer
