7mm Rem Mag reloading recommendations

I don’t load for 7mm so take my thought with a grain of salt. All the magnum powders mentioned above have great reputations. However, if you want to really look at your powder options nearly all of the major bullet manufactured bullets have published data on their sites for free. I reference them often daily. Cross reference those with what’s available and has been recommended above and it’s hard to go wrong.

H1000 in my 7mm RM's. There is slightly more fps to be had with other powders at times, but not enough to be paradigm shifting, and the H1000 is generally pretty easy to dial in.

Lot of really good powders for heavy bullets in overbore cartridges these days.
There is more than a little fps to be had. H1000 does better in 30 cals than 7mm's generally speaking from a pressure and velocity standpoint.

separate question. Most of the manuals I have say to just use a Large Rifle primer. They don’t specify magnum or specific primers. Do I need to use magnum primers or will large rifle primers do just fine as the manuals say?

I guess it likely depends on what one considers a lot vs a little as far as FPS. I should add that I'm not one to chase max fps. I'm happy with a mid range load if the accuracy and consistency are there. Pushing things too hard for an extra 50-100 fps that won't likely effectuate more efficacy downrange can bring about surprises that have a way of showing up at the worst times. If I'm not happy with what a case can comfortably give, I get a bigger case.

I also run H1000 in 6.5 PRC.

Lots of good powders out there these days.

Most manuals call for a magnum primer. I prefer federal 215s. Cci 250's will work as well.

71g H1000, cci250, R-P brass, seated out much further the standard. Modified my mag to accommodate longer coal. Pushes 162 eldm about 3050. Prob faster powders out there but H1000 gave best accuracy.

Thanks for the input. H1000 and Retumbo are two I was wondering about. Sounds like other have had good results. I plan on starting with 160gr Sierra Match Kings for target shooting and Either Barnes TSX 160 or Nosler Accubond 160 for hunting.

I'm not seeing a lot of 7828 availability. I will have to check my LGS.
What is your intended range of use? The Barnes are atrocious BC wise.
