Hey guys

I want to get a 7mm PRC or rem mag for hunting all kinds of game. I have narrowed it down to 3 guns. I eliminated a lot of guns in the 2k price range (including the waypoint 2020 which was hard to do). I picked all these bases on reading many good reviews online, value, accuracy, weight and company reputation. For reference. I currently hunt with a Bergara b-14 hunter (with upgraded stock, trigger, and bottom metal) and I really love it.

seekins PH2

I plan on mounting a leupold vx5 or equivalent with Talley rings.

thanks everyone and happy hunting

What do you think of the Seekins warranty and well known customer service?

Given all the Seekins I have seen and shot, I always vote Seekins if it is an option.

100% go with the Seekins. Currently running one in 6.5 w/ mountain shadow and Apollo Max brake. Also have a Mark 5HD 5-25x56 setting on top. I do believe I will be going with a different scope however, and will be selling the Mark 5 for something with a SFP.

Also, I am looking at another Seekins in 7 PRC, but I prefer a shorter barrel than the 26" in the PH2. I think I'd like it in a 22.

I only have one seekins but it is the most accurate rifle I own. It is 6.5 prc I love my weatherbys and the mark 5 short bolt throw is a plus but think for pure accuracy seekins wins.

Out of your choices I'd go with the Seekins. My "poor man's" version was a new Remarms ADL 7mm RM stuffed into a KRG Bravo. My brass fireforming handloads are sub 0.5 moa. I think you'll be happy with whatever you decide.

Why did you eliminate the Waypoint?

Seekins & Waypoint would be the 2 I would look at if I was RH.

I'm going to assume you are LH. I am also but have always shot RH rifles. Autoloading shotguns are a different story.

What LH rifles are do you run?

I’ve had Ruger LH M77s, R700LH, Ruger American Predators, & Browning A-Bolt SS mostly.

I just bought a Kelbly action to have a mag BF built because the reviews are poor on all the LH rifles I see.

Funny you came to that conclusion. It was a good observation but I’m actually not left handed. I really like the waypoint and have heard a lot of good things but others have posted issues and said Springfield challenging customer service.

I would pick the bergara. I've put together a couple different bergaras including a 7RM ridge on a chassis for myself.
Nothing but good luck. Smooth setups, easy to find a load for. I also like that the 7PRC in bergara carbon barrels seem like they are all 22". That would be a great combo with a suppressor or brake.

I have the alpine ct in 7prc. I've owned it since August, I've enjoyed shooting it. Roughly 300ish rounds through it, have a Trijicon Credo hx 2.5-15 on it. The Weatherby brake was missing out of the box but Weatherby promptly mailed me one, however, by that time I had already ordered a SRS 4 port and that's what I've left on it, so I can't specifically speak to the benefits of the weatherby brake. Hornady factory ammo shot well, all moa at 100yd, the 180 eld-m were closer to half-0.75moa, which is also, roughly, what the Barnes 160 LRX load i worked up shoots as well.

Seekins, the ones I've been around have all shot great. Great reputation/customer service if needed. Their actions have integral recoil lug, they'll sell you prefits for reasonable price if you want to change up cartridges in the future

Not sure that you can go wrong with any of your choices. Just pick what you think looks the best to you and feels good in your hands.

I went with a 7prc in the waypoint. Found it in the used rack a Scheels for a $1000 off of listed retail prices and gave it a chance. Turn out it shoots amazing. It had a trigger tech diamond trigger already installed and I added a 2 port J&A brake and it kicks as much as my 6.5 prc and 270 win do. Not sure why they get that bad a rep. They come with a nice parts list. Ag composite stock, nice rem 700 clone action, trigger tech trigger, and a Bsf carbon barrel.

I also have a tikka that started life as a 300 wm superlite. Barrels can be had cheap as take offs $100 or less. I picked up a few and now have a 7mm rem mag, 6.5 prc in addition to the original 300wm barrel. Pretty easy to spin on a new barrel if you want to scratch the itch or have a particular hunt/agenda planned that requires the caliber. Actually easier to swap the barrel on the tikka than it it on an ar 10/15 platform.
