I have the Weatherby Range XP in 7PRC. Very accurate with Federal 170gr TA's and even more accurate with loads from Unknown Munitions in 175gr ELD-X. Nice smooth action as well. My only complaint is the forend is flimsy so I purchased a KRG Bravo to eliminate that. I also upgraded the radial brake to an UM 4 port and the recoil is very manageable. I could shoot that gun all day long. If you opt for the Range XP model, it affords you the ability to customize and still have an affordable gun that is a long range killer. I have zero regrets with the purchase.

Thanks for your input. I'm not familiar with changing stocks or customizing much. Does it change the accuracy at all? I read a thread where one guy claimed the finish was coming off of his range xp stock. Assuming if the stock is the only thing you're changing is buying the entire rifle the way to go rather than just getting the 307 bolt and peicing things together?

Yep, I was the guy with the finish coming off the stock. I've yet to put the new stock on but it's super easy. 2 action screws and drop the new stock on. I'm hoping my accuracy increases even more with the new Bravo. My barrel from the factory wasn't completely free floated and will be with the Bravo. You can certainly buy the 307 builders action and build from there. If I was to go that route I'd recommend looking at other actions as well. I thought about the builders action myself but was wanting to make sure the 7PRC was what I wanted. You can buy the builders action for $750 I believe or buy the Range XP and be shooting for $1150ish. Actually Scheel's has the Range XP on sale for $999.00. By the time you buy the builders action and a trigger you'd probably be money ahead to buy the whole gun and customize from there.

Cool, this is all good information. I appreciate it! Is the barrel supposed to be a free float from factory?

I had very little contact on mine but it was enough that I didn't like it. The factory will tell you it's not a fully free floated barrel - I think it even states that in the FAQ about that rifle. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be though. Doesn't make sense to me....

Yeah that's odd. If you happen to get that bravo on within the next few months maybe you can let me know how you like it? I'm looking to buy before April 1st to avoid the new Colorado tax on guns.

I have a 6.8W Browning xbolt speed SR and impressed with it. So in the low 1000 range that is where I would look. 2k range Seekins. I have had good luck with the CA Mesa I have (it is 300 Win and very accurate) so that is another option that has guns in both price ranges

Thanks, I have an x bolt in 270 wsm and it has been great! I wish they had a few other stock options in that speed sr as I'm not crazy about the camo. The seekins seems to be what everyone is recommending but the only model that offers 22" barrel is closer to 3k$ I will definitely check out the CA. Thanks for the input!
