Edit - guess can't embed that link... search 7mm PRC cartridge guide on youtube from Long Range Only. Great vid and he talks about his development using 180s and RL26

This vid is well worth the watch.

I'm going to start working up a hand load with RL26 and 180gr match bullets and looking for recommendations on where to start?
I use RL26 with 180 Berger's in my 7mm Blaser mag which is nearly a twin to the new 7 PRC and best accuracy in my rifle is 68.5gr so if yours was chambered with a SAAMI spec reamer starting at 64-65gr should be fine.

Went and shot today for the first time with my Christensen Ridgeline FFT.

Weather was cloudy/sunny and around 37 degrees.

Good first outing - rifle functioned great!

ELD-X averaged around 2905-2910 FPS out of a 22" barrel. Accuracy went from 1.1 MOA to .75 MOA by the end of the session with that load.

ELD-M averaged around 2850 - very first 3 shot group with the ELD-M was .6 MOA... Very stoked - that will make a great antelope bullet!

I have a cheap chronograph... I had some interesting velocity reads (was in and out of the sun)... Random 75 FPS drops... Idk if it was the chronograph or the factory loads. When it gets nicer want to shoot at distance to confirm.

Rifle shot great - with the break, recoil was in the .308 realm maybe... Less then my Tikka 06 for sure. Less then I thought it would be.

Overall very happy so far!

Pretty ironic you have the best accuracy and that charge weight. I pulled 4 bullets out of factory ELDM ammo I have and got an average of 68.5gr of powder out of them. I'm going to reload a few of my spent cases with 68.5gr of RL 26 and see how they chrono compared to the factory stuff. Hopefully it is a "match" 😂 pun intended.

7/30/2023 Update - I shot 65.0, 68.2, 68.5, 68.8 grains of RL26 with the ELDM's and got the following velocities respectively...2990, 2985, 3014, 3027. Brass was once fired and it was about 93*F.

The factory ELDM ammo i was shooting (5 rds) averaged 2868 fps., so looks like I'm going to be sub 68 grains of RL26 to hit the same number. By comparison, the average FPS i got with the same factory ammo on 6/4 was 2856 and it was a little cooler as i recall.

Just for giggles i also shot some 180 gr Berger VLD Target bullets with 68.5 grains of RL26 and got and average FPS of 3019 (2 rds).

Rifle is a CA Ridgeline FFT, 22" bbl and 1:8 tw.
