7mm hand load.

Currently shooting hornady precision hunters sub moa.. 162gr normal factory load. Best look out of my rifle at the moment.
I’ve tried hand loads with berger 180gr/h1000 @ 65gr-69gr etc multiple tries. Not quite as accurate as factory loads which surprises me.
anyone out there have some ideas for 7mm in a savage 110 (I’m lefty and budgeting) Mounted with a VX6-HD 4-24.

What twist? Tried another powder? Different primer? Played with seating depth? Neck tension? Any reason you aren't satisfied with the 162?

My personal favorites are the 175 eldx, and the 180 berger. But if you don't have the twist, you may never get them to shoot great. Out of my factory savage barrel, the 169 berger w/ 69 gr of H1000 was money.

Some of those Savage rifles have really slow twist (1:10) and won't stabilize anything over 168 (or so)

I suggest a 160 Accubond, 154 Interbond, 160 Partition, or a 140grain nonlead bullet)

I have been working on loads for the 165 Sierra Gamechanger (tipped gameking) with 65-68gr of H4831 and have been really impressed. It was easy to get a consistent load that shot great out of my gun. I've had pretty good luck with H4831 out of my 7RM and 300WM for accuracy and it is a lot easier to find at the store.

I have a tikka in 7mm that I load for, same published barrel twist as your savage.

162 eld-x were too long and unstable. Past 500 or so they really started going bad, but man they shot purty groups at 200.

I landed on H1000 and berger 168 hybrids. They were stable, since they are actually a bit shorter than the eld-x.

Not super fast, my drops worked out to only 2950, but it shot lots of rounds into itty-bitty groups so I ran with that until I got my 300WM built.

Shooting 168 Bergers with 69.4 of H1000. Still fine tuning a couple little things, but around 69 gns of H1000 seems to be a consistently popular load for the 7.

My Browning A-bolt really likes 168gr Berger Classic Hunters with 69.5gr H-1000 and COAL at 3.322". Groups went to one hole at 100 when I tried that seating depth. It's amazing what just a couple thousandth's will do for accuracy.......in both directions.

I like 160gr accubonds and 70.7gr of H-1000 with a 20thou jump.

i'm currently working on finding a good load with 150gr TTSX. the same 70.7gr seems to be showing promise.

160 gr. Partition or Accubond CLASSIC LOADS!

140 gr. Accubond or Partition or E-Tip would work very well also.

If your Savage has a 1/9.5" twist, you're going to do better with bullets having a shorter bearing surface. If you're under 1" with a 162 gr, things should get better in the 140-150 grain range. For bigger animals, see Accubond, Scenar, LRX, TTSX.

FWIW, get a box of 150 Core Lokts for $20... if they shoot decent you'll know you're headed in the right direction.

My 7mm with 1-9.5 twist really liked h1000 and most bullets under 175g. Best was the 160 ab just under max.
Have several buddies that all have similar results with theirs as well.
Only bullet I couldn't shoot was the 168 Barnes lrx. It would tumble.
