7mm-08 superformance vs. 270 standanrd loading

Nothing wrong with either.

The 7mm doesn't have the big BC advantage in 140gr bullets it gets with heavier ones. The Nosler 140gr Accubond or 130gr Berger Classic Hunter in 270 will match the BC of all the 140gr 7mm bullets I've seen advertised. There may be some I'm not aware of.

I have tried Superformance loads in several rifles. I found one 223 and one 204 that shoot them well. I tried them in three 243's, two 270's, a 25-06, and four other 223's and they didn't group well compared to several other loads. I know they perform well from a lot of rifles for a lot of people and the guns of mine that liked them really liked them. I personally wouldn't want to plan a gun around their performance though, pick one that's standard level of performance matches your needs and then find what it shoots best.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either or that much game will be able to tell the difference between the two. My pick would be the 270 due to it's flatter trajectory with standard loads and the availability of ammo and brass. I take a 270 as my back-up gun on most hunts where it isn't my primary gun. I take a 264WM as my primary rifle a lot and if something happens to my ammo it would be very hard to find anything, and impossible to duplicate my reloads on most trips. I can find factory 270 loads anywhere ammo is sold. Not a likely scenario, but I'd hate to have a hunt ruined because of it.
