7mm-08 factory loads for moose

We have had outstanding success with Barnes 120 TTSX, Berger VLD 140's and 140 grain Accubonds out of my lady's Tikka. No moose but plenty of elk and big mature mule deer out to 350 yards. All of them have just flattened animals and all of these bullet designs have worked very well in different situations. The Barnes have been my personal favorites for velocity and the ranges she is comfortable with. The Bergers have had the most dramatic effect for close shots and longer distance. Her longest shot on her last mature bull was 352 yards with the VLD and he took two steps and plowed snow. Choose the bullet you like that's accurate, keep your distance reasonable and practice and you'll be crushing any moose that wants to play the game!

My son shot a Moose with his 7mm-08 here in Alberta using a handload that I loaded with 130 gr Speer hotcors. Shot the bull quartering towards us at 200 yards... one shot kill. I would probably not load 130's specifically for Moose now ,it did work well though. I find it amusing when people just randomly state that x cartridge is not suitable to kill Elk,deer Moose etc. Bullets placed in vitals kill things, the cartridge of choice is just the vehicle that gets the bullet there. 7mm-08 is my favorite "vehicle".

I would use nosler 140 or 150 accubond if your looking for factory ammo either should work fine provided your aim is true

I went the range on Friday with the Norma tipstrike and some HSM 165g TGK. They did not shoot the best, but also noticed that i needed a riser on the stock to make a better cheek weld. With that said, I did order some ammo with ammo with 150g Partitions and 162g ELD-X. Will be re-testing the above loads again and the new loads when it isnt well below freezing here.

Who loads 150 PT and 162 ELDX commercially?
