Next fall, I have a moose hunt in Newfoundland booked with my dad and he will be using my new 7mm-08 (Tikka). In speaking with one of the guides, he suggested using a 160+ grain bullet, which is not overly common in the 7mm-08 for factory ammo. These are the options Ive been able to find, but have not tested out of the rifle yet:

- Nosler 150g ABLR
- Norma 160g Tipstrike (not much information out there?)
- Hornady 150g ELD-X
- UM 162g ELD-X

Does anyone have any experience with these rounds shooting moose or any other factory rounds that you would suggest?

I used a 162gr eld-x on a moose, but out of a 7 rem mag. It did awesome, but not exactly apples to apples for you other than the bullet.

That is true. The outfitter said that almost all shots are within 200 yards, with most being closer to 100. Based on UM's load data, it would still be traveling just shy of 2400 fps at 200 yards.

140gr Barnes TTSX is all you would need. It will gain plenty of velocity for expansion and still punch through both shoulders.

Any of those ABLR and ELDX's will do the job. I don't know anything about the Tipstrike.

Remember that, speed/energy wise, the 7mm-08 is the same as the 7 rem mag from a greater distance. Plus, within 200 yards you have an accuracy advantage over the 7 rem mag from a greater distance.

I've killed several Roosevelt bulls with the 154 Interbond and it performed great every time. (But this was out of a STW) I'm a big fan of that bullet and it's rarely mentioned.
