7mm-08 Advise

Which would you prefer, 160 gr Nosler Partition at 2700 fps or a 140 gr Nosler Partition at 2900 fps for black bears? I'm hunting in deep woods so all shots would be less than 100 yards. Thanks

Never shot a bear, but a 140 gr Partition impacting at 2750-2800fps is going to be devastating

If you hunt deer and other lighter framed critters where the 140 is preferred over the 160, I'd just go with that 1 load to keep things simple.

They're both gonna work fine. Choose the one your rifle shoots best.

Shoot both and use the most acurate.

I use 139 gr Hornady superformance and holy shit you don't want to get hit with it. Countless Wisconsin bucks dead on impact

140 grain have always been good for me. Just hard to find any 7mm-08 lately

Thanks. Just got back. No bear but those SC mountains are beautiful and rugged. Ended up taking the 160 gr Partitions. Oh well, next year.

I 140s are just about right for this caliber I really like the partitions and accubonds. Almost too much bullet for whitetail I think.
