I'm building a 7 saum with a 22 inch tube right now. It will be throated for heavies....but that's plan b. I'm going to start with 145 cutting edge lazers, which I should be able to get slightly above 3k fps. If I don't end up liking that for whatever reason, I'll go to the 175 or 180 bergers. But, if I do like the lazers and I'm getting 3100 as some people do, I may have the barrel cut back to 21 or 20 inches. I really think after hours and hours of research that this may be the ideal cartridge for packing way into elk country and taking shots to 600 or a touch more. Let us know how it goes when you get it back. Really hoping I don't end up missing my 300 rum on elk because that thing drops them like they were dead before the bullet even got there. It just sucks to shoot more than a box or so of ammo in practice and I hate brakes.
