Already have a .300 win mag with a 26” barrel but I wanting to start hunting suppressed more often. Am I crazy for wanting a to add a 7 PRC to the safe with a 20” or 22” barrel? Thinking either an X bolt (all of my hunting rifles are x-bolts) or a Tikka T3X and doing some upgrades to it.

I don’t think so. More guns is always more better! In all seriousness I would rather have a 20 or 22 inch 7mm PRC than a 300 win mag with a 26 inch barrel since I primarily run a suppressor.

I like it better than the 300. But there is nothing it can do that a 6.5 prc cant do with less recoil. Thats my use case though, it might make more sense for you.

I wouldn’t plan on it for deer, that’s what my 7mm-08 is for. At this point I’m leaning towards Tikka or Browning.

I turned my Tikka 300WM into a 7PRC. Still kicks like a mule, is expensive and mostly sits in the safe. Personally, my 6.5 Creeds and under get all the range time and are all deadly out past 800yds at my altitude.

In short, I agree with 6.5PRC for a top end that's still deadly out past twice the distance we should be hunting. Tikka all day long and twice on Sunday.

The 20-22" 7prc's with 175 eol are pretty sporty on things. I've been really impressed with the performance. Most guys are pushing them 2800ish.

I am curious on the same. Thinking about a 22 inch barrel. It looks like 22 is the velocity tipping point.

My 20" is as long as I'd want for 7 PRC (suppressed, with a Brake longer would be no biggie). Does kick, continually have thoughts about getting a blank and having it turned into a 6.5 PRC......I do love it though. Absolutely hammer with a 175 ELDX.

I got the x-bolt 2 hunter last year and I love it. The only thing I would change is go from a 24" barrel to 20" and possibly 6.5 PRC over 7PRC.
