7 PRC Velocities? Reality vs. expectation.

I got UM spinning up a 7 PRC+P on a 20” barrel. If we are chasing speed why not just jump up to the new 7-300 PRC with ADG head stamped brass which is already necked down per Shot Show. Pretty sure mine is already chambered, wish I could change it. I’m estimating 3100 with a 20” and 180 eldm on the 7-300 PRC.

I’m at exactly 2900 with the 180 eldm factory load in a 26 inch cut rifled barrel. Also have flattened primers so I’m near pressure as well.

This is a brand newish barrel, maybe 40 rounds through it so far.

20” Preferred carbon, CGS Hyperion, 180 hunting VLD 2,813 fps with 67gr H1000, and I could push it faster.

Not sure if you’re still looking for data, but the 7PRC load I’ve been using is:

180 Berger Hyb Target
Gunwerks Brass
68.5 gr H1000
COAL 3.387
CCI 250 Primer
2,954 FPS

No pressure signs. 24” Bartlein CFW barrel. This load is unbelievably accurate out of my barrel. I honestly think I just happened to get a great barrel and feed it a good load because it will shoot ragged holes at 100yds if I’m doing my job.

Not according to the data they sent me.

When 7PRC first came out I couldn’t stop drooling on myself. What a shooter sending 175g bullets 3000 fps in a 24” barrel!

However, Is anyone actually getting these results real world in their own rifle? I hear rumors that most guys really are not not able to achieve these speeds and that it was mostly marketing hype.

Anyone with some personal experience?

2850 with 24inch, about 100 FPS less than my 7mm RM.
