I have a 7 PRC that I built with a 22” proof barrel that I’m wanting to load with 175 grain eldx and 195 grain Berger hunters. Has anyone got some recommendations on what to use for powder? What’s the most accurate powder to use for a 22” barrel that gives good velocity? Thank you for the feedback!

Do you think the 570 is the best powder to use for those 195s even with a 22” barrel? Given the shorter barrel I’m not sure if there’s a more efficient powder to use. I’m new to reloading for rifle so I’m all ears if you want to impart some knowledge on me.

Anybody else have any experience with 7prc loading for a 22 inch barrel?

It's magic with 195's in big 7's if you can get the bullet boattail to the top of the neck/shoulder radius. I used it in a 20" 7STW with the same stellar results (81.3gr).
It'll eat the throat; buy a chamber chiller and shoot sparingly. If you'll shoot 500 rounds/year at the range, I'd pick a different powder or shoot a different rifle. That's the downside. I tried H1000 and 180 hybrids first and couldn't get results.

I have 2-rifles I have been load testing, the Springfield loves 65 grs of H1000 with the 175 and the Bergara likes a little more spice or 70 grs. Both single digit SD. This is a 4-shot group at 100. I had to play with the seating depth, seems they like jump.

I too have been developing hunting (elk & mules) loads for my PH3 in 22". I've tried H1000, H4831sc, MagPro, & N565 using 175gr Nosler Partitions & ABLRs.
H1000 & H4831 would probably do better in longer barrels as their velocities weren't that great and SDs were in the high teens.
MagPro gave me the best velocity, but the velocity was all over the place. One load had a difference of over 100fps.
N565 was awesome. SDs in the single digits, groups of .75" and even the loads were identical for the partition rounds & the ABLRs. 65.9gr, 2.620 CBTO, Peterson brass, Federal 215M primers. 2782 avg velocity.

Strangely, the Partition groups are consistently 1.5" higher and 0.5" to the left of the ABLR groups.

Lots of info on load data for the 7PRC if you do a search.

175 ELDX
H1000
66-70 Grains
Always work up for your rifle.

I shoot the 175 just shy of 2900 with 68.0 of H1000 in Hornady Brass and Winchester LRP. This load has been very good for me to 1773 yards. 22" Proof Barrel. Was getting 2960 same load with some older H1000 till I ran out.....bummer
