7 MM Mag, What is a good all around grain to start with?

I was getting single digit sds with the core lokt tipped factory too in addition to it shooting good groups, I was pleasently surprised. only buck we shot was like 30 yds and he didn't go more than 10 yds before he died.
I’d have to look back at my Garmin but I remember low SD coupled with really good groups

Thank you for all the responses I wasn't expecting this many replies, I asked a similar question for my 300 Win Mag and got a lot more options this time. At the moment I am not set up to reload rifle. My Buddy can and will do it for me but I am just looking for an off the shelf ammo for this rifle.
There is a chance that this rifle will go up to Canada or out west for large game hunts, Probably give the 7MM Mag to my son for those ad I'll use the 300 WM. I have usually leaned towards Federal rounds in my rifles but some shoot Hornady better.

If it was my 7 rem mag and I was only shooting factory ammo I would get a few different loads in the 160 range to try. Do you know what you're looking for on the terminal side?

Under 300 yards for soft squishy things?!?!?!?!

Id rock the cheapest 140gr cup and core bullet that shot well and fill the freezer.

My dad always rocked the 139 gr interlocks....for no real reason. He's kind of a doofus. But it always scrambled stuff quite thoroughly.

I'd grab a box or two of federal fusions and blue box, I slightly prefer the 150 grain in either but the 175 will sure take the wiggle out of deer and bears too.
Two of the most overlooked 7mm bullets in my opinion is the interlock and sst 154 grain. The interlock lacks the sexy BC number but it usually shoots well and last time I looked was available for reasonable in the whitetail.
You're slightly over thinking it for killing game inside 300 yards with the most popular 7mm cartridge.

I would like to get the gun shooting good with an ammo that can go out further than 300 if needed and not have to change ammo, But a majority of the shots would be in the 300 Yard range.

Then the answer is ELDX

The 160 class bullets will do everything you need. I've shot a few deer with mine using the 162 sst and was happy with the terminal performance. All were within 100 yards and had complete pass throughs with good internal damage and a dead deer very close to where it was shot.

This little fella died right now with a single 162 ELDX at about 150 yards from a 7mm Rem Mag.

ELDX are all we shoot in .223, 7mm (-08 and Rem Mag) and 30-06.

To be fair, it’s more about where you shoot them than what you shoot them with.
