6mm ARC Velocities

He was getting heavy bolt lift and flattened primers, but he still got 2800+ out of that 20" barrel without pressure signs. Did you catch what action / barrel he was using? I've seen Gavin on ultimate reloader push 308 and 7 SWC to magnum speeds, but he purpose built the chamber and selected the action to be able to handle the increased pressure... And that was only for a test.

I didn't catch it no, he posted in a comment that the build is in the description but I'm not seeing it. I watched that UR vid, pretty interesting stuff.

Factory Howa Mini 20” barrel, shooting factory ELDM ammo, I’m getting 2620 consistently. Actually been surprised by how consistent the factory ammo has been velocity wise.
I have a 20” that is close to that also. Seen one lot averaging 2575 and my last lot was averaging 2620.

My howa mini 22” is getting 2620 with factory 108s.

My 14.5” AR is at 2502 with 95gr tmk at 29gr of cfe 223. Which is right under book max. Personally, that extra 10 inches of barrel isn’t worth the extra fps to gain that distance for game animals. I feel like in most cases I could close that 300 yard gap down to get within my velocity window for a shot. rather than setting up for the longer distance.

How much does a 14.5” AR weigh? I’m considering a 14.5” upper for fun.

Max load lever in 16” gasser was 2700fps with 95tmk.

.8gr below max was 2500fps in 12” barrel.

I think if you’re SBR’ing a 6ARC, 12” barrel appears to be a sweet spot

The problem with the gasser barrels, besides the BCA 556 pencil barrel, is they’re heavy.

My 12” weighs 1.75lbs.

Good news is it would be easy to chuck in a lathe and turn down

Someone could make a mint profiling .223 and .243 cal AR barrels as thin as possible.

Edit: my barrel is nitrided. Turning won’t be fun.
