6GT, Hammer 90gr HHT and Varget

Getting great accuracy but am unsure where to stop with the powder charge. Almost afraid to find pressure since there is no load data out for this bullet and the Hodgdon data varies widely with the powder charge between the 100gr (34.3 gr) and the 103gr (36.6 gr) bullets they quote. I’m already at 35.5gr and 3025-3050 fps from a 20”bbl. No signs of pressure yet. Do I keep going or just call it good? I’m fine with the current results, I think I’d just like to know how close I am.

There’s a lot of load data on Hammer’s website forum, if you can find a similar cartridge in the HH or HHT load data it will get you in the ballpark. You’re probably getting close to max, personally I’d proceed with caution, 0.3 grain at a time until the first sign of pressure shows up, then back off 0.5 to 1.0 grain if there’s accuracy there.

Hammers don’t build pressure the same as other bullets, just work up slowly until you find pressure. Pretty simple really
