17" Tikka 243 with 42 gr H4350 looks like I will get a little over 2800, but, I need to shoot more before saying with certainty.

Interesting… .5 grains less and 2” longer barrel and they’re about the same velocity. Is that due to the twist rate?

Status Quo is a longer barrel allows more time for combustion which yields greater pressure which yields extra speed.

Or, just more time for the same pressure to act on the bullet. Even lower pressure will provide additional acceleration.

Now that the 95g TMK are back out in the wild, I picked up a Tikka 243 with the 1:8 twist and am going to start reloading them.

There’s a bit of info scattered about on here and other forums I’ve managed to find but much of it is just broad strokes saying what powder may work well.

Starting this thread in hopes that we can all share our experience loading and shooting the 95TMK. I’ll be using a 243 but feel free to share your results with other cartridges.

I plan to use H4350 and H4831sc as the first two powders I load. From what I can find, I’ll likely end up around here:

What combination was best for accuracy?

H4350 41.5gr.

I wanted it to be a ball powder so bad so I can make ammo with my dropper and not have to trickle.

 

[24valve]

95 TMK, 39.8gr H4350, fired Starline brass, saami dimensions.

17" suppressed Tikka 243, MV 2760, 1.5" 10-round group

18" suppressed Tikka 243, MV 2800, 1.5" 10-round group

I meant I would’ve expected +- 40-60 fps more out of 2” of barre but .5 grains less powder
