My buddy turned my lapua brass to .015 necks and I sized them down with a .269 bushing after the loaded rounds measured .273. Before turning they were .278 and the necks were .015-.018. I am hoping the consistent necks are going to improve the groups and alleviate the fliers I have been seeing. The turned brass is also chambering correctly now.
Thank you for the N565 data. I think I'm going to just start testing desired bullets with H1000 and N565 and shoot whatever powder the bullet likes most. They seem both be excellent powders, and very close in charge weight and speed.Spent a very chilly hour or so at the range yesterday doing some seating depth testing with my charge of 59gr N565 and 108 Elite Hunter. My barrel seems to have finished speeding up so that's a plus...landed on 25k off with an average speed of 3,224 FPS. Accuracy is ok at roughly MOA for five shots. I'm going to load up 10 for a cow hunt I should be getting called for here in a week or two and hopefully collect some on animal data.
I'll likely give the 108 eldm a shot this spring as well and see if I can get any appreciable gains in accuracy but I'm happy for the time being.
This rifle has a 20" Ace barrel, it's definitely cooking. I did shoot 58.5 a couple weeks ago as well and accuracy was similar albeit a little slower, but not by much. I may drop down eventually as I'm not a huge fan of running right on the edge of pressure and I am seeing a faint ejector swipe but bolt operation is smooth.Thank you for the N565 data. What barrel length?
I was shooting the 108 EH at 3300fps out of a 26" barrel with 58gr. H1000 for reference.
From what I can find across a wide variety of cartridges, is that N565 pressures out 1-2gr. Higher than H1000 and provides a hair bit more speed. Maybe 20-30fps. But I think you’re right there for sure! This rifle has a 20" Ace barrel, it's definitely cooking. Yeah, I don't have any direct experience with H1000 in this but I'd say that's accurate for sure. I shot 565 up to 60gr and I definitely won't be repeating that lol. From what I can find across a wide variety of cartridges, is that N565 pressures out 1-2gr. Shooting a 6.5 PRC I’m assuming?I shot mine yesterday and settled on 58 grains of N565 .030 off at 3110 and 58.5 N565 at .025 off at 3140. Also 20” Ace barrel. Acccuracy in the .3’s with the 135 Berger. Once I do my five shot groups and long distance I will see which load I go with.
6PRC. I Meant 109’s. . 135’s are for my 25prc.Shooting a 6.5 PRC I’m assuming?
Oh no worries! Appreciate the correction and thanks for the added data on the 109's!6PRC. I Meant 109’s. . 135’s are for my 25prc.
