6 Dasher vs 22 Creedmoor?

Why? I can think of several potential reasons, but s8nce I've shot neother and considering both it would be great to hear your experience and reasons for change of preference.
Barrel life is super short in the 22. The recoil is about the same when I'm shooting 88's. Accuracy has been just ok when I load it above 3000 fps. I'm going to try some different bullets in it but so far I think I would have been happier with a 6 creed.

I don’t get the 6GT…less feed reliability than the 6 Creed out of a standard short action, very negligible difference in powder, not as many components available (cases specifically). Both do the same thing, same speeds & barrel life (what powder and charge makes a bigger difference than which cartridge), but the 6CM will have zero magazine/feeding issues.

In general the 6mm market is overcrowded. The 6GT vs 6 creed thing sounds to me like the 25 Creed vs 6.5 Creed thing. Far, far too much overlap to make a meaningful difference. Pick the one that’s most accessible to you given your personal use case.

To the OP, it sounds like you already have everything you need. If you just want to build a new rifle…the Dasher numbers you quoted are definitely optimistic. On the other hand there really are more options in 6mm, and more coming available as we speak. If going Dasher, do a 6ARC & use LeverEvolution; your barrel will last…well I really don’t know of any that have been shot out. But the Dasher won’t keep up with 6GT/6CM/22CM.

6 GT was designed for and has no feeding issues out of AICS mags, and runs about 50-100 fps slower than a 6 creed with only 34 grains of Varget.

Even with dasher. If your using aics mags, your not going to have feeding issues in 2026.

My dasher/tikkas have actually been more problem free than when I was shooting 6 creed.

With the correct setup you really shouldn’t have any issues feeding any of these cartridges.

Case capacity to bore are ratios for 6.5mm Creedmoor and 6mm GT differ by 1%.

6mm Creedmoor is within 1% of .280 AI on that scale.

“Both do the same thing, same speeds & barrel life (what powder and charge makes a bigger difference than which cartridge)”.

The above is the crux of what I’m saying. I’ve personally witnessed many feeding issues with 6GT, I’m around PRS rigs a lot and those guys try everything. Anything can be made to work, and anyone can get their setup working. But shoot a lot, and in my experience…the 6GT is great marketing. Almost the exact same thing, shorter overall cartridge length, slightly more feeding issues. Also the shooters buying them are tossing their barrels at the exact same round count as the 6CM. It’s a cartridge designed to try and get a free lunch, speed without consequence.

Not casting shade, it’s one of a myriad of choices and it works just fine. If a guy wants a 6GT then all good, It’s nice to have options. But the short action 6mm options are too many, with lots of claims of issues being fixed that just…aren’t issues and never were. I’m not a 6CM fan per se, it’s just that a 6CM with 2 grains less powder is the 6GT, and the powder choice matters more than the cartridge for barrel life.

It’s like splitting the same hair twice, and guys looking to do a 6mm build get lost overthinking it. Most of the 6mm cartridge options are just fine, and a few hundred rounds in I’ve heard over & over “I wish I’d have done [other 6mm cartridge] instead of this”. Why? Go shoot. You built it, you got the dies, got the brass…go shoot.

Overall point: most 6mm short action cartridges are far far more alike than different. Sorry to derail.

That above is near the exactly what I’ve seen with the GT as well. It absolutely has more issues and does not feed as well as the 6cm. And, what I have seen with others is the same regarding barrel life- there is no functional difference when ran at like pressures.

I am not generally a “new cartridge suck” person- but the GT is legitimately- “why”?

FWIW- the 6cm don’t feed as well as the 243win either.
