6 creed or 6.5 creed for suppressed 18-20” barrel

Went 20” with my first 6cm, next one will be 18”, own 20& 16” 6.5. They are great 20” 6.5 with 143 eldx takes me to just shy of 650 yards. 16” is something like 515 yards with 140 eld-m. 6cm with 108’s will be over 700 yards, need to confirm with crono though

Last year I hunted with a 22” 6 CM with an Ultra 7. Factory Hornady 108 eldm’s are going 2970 after 100ish rounds. Gets me to 770 yards with an impact velocity of 1806 fps at 2500 ft.

Anybody got real world velocity data on the 18” 6CM vs 18” 6.5CM?

Pretty close, I've got an 18" 6.5 CM and a 19" 6 CM, my hunting loads are below:

18" 6.5 CM
147 ELDm with H4350 @ 2685 fps
Holds 1800 fps to 765 yards at my DA (basically sea level)

19" 6 CM
108 ELDm with RL-26 @ 3000 fps
Holds 1800 fps to 770 yards at my DA

108 ELDm with H4350 @ 2915 fps (my load once I'm out of RL pixie dust)
Holds 1800 fps to 725

So its basically a toss up ballistically. I prefer the 6mm personnally, for it's easier recoil management but there is honestly not a whole lot of difference. The 6mm shots a bit flatter, but the 6.5 is a tiny bit better in the wind.

Thanks. That’s good info. Surprised that the 300fps difference doesn’t get you much further past the 700 yard mark.

I have a 6.5 but thats just what I could get in a factory offering, I would perfer 6cm. Though I saw the new Hornady add for the 25cm which might be kind of cool as well. Right now I would go 6cm though.

Tell me more about this load. Sounds fast for 4350 and 147.

Lapua SRP, Fed 205m
43.2 grains of H4350
147 ELDm at 2.240" to ogive

Definitely work up to that load, this particular barrel has always been pretty fast, so I'm sure that plays a part. I actually got the 147s up to 2740 fps with RL-26, accurate too, damn shame its unobtainable.

I haven't messed with the 109 ELDm's yet, but if their advertised BC is accurate and I can get them to the 3,000 fps mark, they would hold 1800 fps out to about 815 yards here. I may play with them once I'm out of 108's.

But honestly, I'm never really going to shoot over about 400-500 yards max where I hunt. I'd say 99% of my shots are likely to be 300 yards and in.

From my sig cross today with a 135 gr Berger classic.
Only 20 shots but I'm sure with 20 it'll be good.

more barrel life than the 6 creed but faster than a 6 arc. it looks like I should be able to still keep a 108/109g above 1800 fps out to 700yds at my elevation

Great info helps me a ton in my decision.
