6' bag for a 6'1" guy

I've owned two backpacking sleeping bags in my life and both of them were 6'6" bags. I got these bags because I'm 6'1" tall and I've always heard you don't want any pressure on the bottom of the bag from your feet making it not fit properly. However, a while ago I was told by a guy who knows far, far more about backpack hunting than I'll ever know that he's used 6' bags with no problem and, just like me, he's 6'1". I'm a cold sleeper and my feet get cold, so I'm hesitant to get a 6' bag. But, I'm also usually a side sleeper (at least when I'm not on my back or my stomach), and he said that sleeping on your side with your legs pulled up a little, like I do when I'm on my side, will take up the extra room and make the bag fit fine.

Anyone have any experience with or thoughts on this?
Thanks!

In my opinion I wouldn't, I would always rather have to much bag then not enough. I'm 6'2 and have spent a decent amount of nights in a 6 bag ( all I had). My long bags are much more comfortable.

I wouldn't do it either Scoot. I'm 6'2 and my feet get cold when I don't have them pushed up against the end of the bag. Can't imagine how cold they'd be jammed into the end of a 6 foot bag like that. He's probably right about the fit when you are on your side, but when you are not, you'll be pushing the end. Stay with the "long" bags...

I'm only 6' but even I prefer an XL bag.i wanna bury myself in it. I feel claustrophobic in a mummy. Sleep is everything to me, if I don't sleep I'm a zombie.

One more. Im 6'1'' and went with the 6' bag... wish I hadn't. It is useable and not a big enough deal to make me switch, but looking back Id rather have the longer bag. occasionally when Im wanting to stretch in the bag I can feel my feet start to get cold quicker because of the compressed down around them. I wish there was a step between 6' and 6'6 though.

Go larger.

I am 6ft and made the mistake years ago of going with a regular. Never again! 6ft 6 bags are all I buy now.

I'm a rather thin 6' guy and I've had both sized bags. I much prefer a long. I sleep very cold and like the extra insulation and room.....2 cents

i am 5 11.

if i am freezing, i tend to scooch down into my bag. my feet then freeze. i imagine i am pushing a thin spot into the loft around my feet?

i got a 6 6 bag..sure there is the tiniest weight penalty..and it stuffs just a tad bigger. the thing feels amazing. wish i had done this a long time ago.

Def the bigger bag. You can stuff your next days cloths in the bottom so they are warm when you get dressed.
