I know this is like a year old reply. I have the 6.8 Western in RW's videos. The N570 load where I was getting near 3200 fps was 70 grains. I switched powders and went to N568 (66 grains) and am going 2960 fps and it hammers. I do have a video coming out with the adg brass and that load.Watched a video from “reloading weatherby” on YouTube and he was getting some crazy velocities with n570 and Berger 170’s with a 26 inch tube. Not a hole lot of info on hand load velocities out there
What did the terminal damage look like in the elk you took with the 170gr Elite Hunter?I know this is like a year old reply. I have the 6.8 Western in RW's videos. Here is where I have posted pictures of it.What did the terminal damage look like in the elk you took with the 170gr Elite Hunter?
Looks fairly slushy in there, good damageHere is where I have posted pictures of it.
The 170 EOL is a really good choice. I took my elk this year with the 170. The amount of damage done was very impressive. I did take my first shot while he was running at 125 yards. I hit the lower shoulders. It took out his front legs. He still was wanting to live, and lifted his head up and I put one in the neck and one more. He got up and rolled over being incapacitated. The brain can still be working for 4-6 minutes on average after oxygen supplies have been depleted. A running adrenaline filled elk's brain will say screw everything I want to live as long as possible. I was on him...
