6.5prc bullet of choice in 20” barrel

I’ve got a 6.5prc in route that’ll have a 20” barrel.
This will mainly be a deer / hog gun. I’d like something that expands well but still exits reliably (I know this goes against the Rokslide preach but I hunt some thick areas and a little extra blood helps)

What’s the easy button ? I’ve shot the hornady 105 bthp in 6cm and it worked perfectly. Caliber entrance, jello insides and large exits. Does the 6.5m 140gr bthp do the same ?

If shooting deer size or smaller and wanting a full penetration bullet any of the monos or bonded bullets will be good choices. Gold dots are a pretty awesome bullet, unfortunately they are hard to find.

I’d try a Barnes 127 LRX. I also recall someone saying that match burners actually had pretty good terminal performance too. 140gr Nosler partition and accubond are always a good option. I’ve heard good things about the Hornady CX as well.

I use Speer 140 Hotcore. 20" cf bbl. shoot great, reasonable cost, very good accuracy. Taken a couple Elk, Deer, and Hogs. Never had a issue.

I had awesome luck with 140 Accubonds out of a 20” Lilja. I had multiple sub 1/2” loads at speeds of 2910-2950. H4831SC, H1000, and Magpro. Killed a bunch of animals with that setup, from inside 100 yards out to 430 was the longest.

Since you're already in the Hornady club the 143 g ELD-X gets the job done, but sounds like you're looking more for an InterLock in which case the 140 might do (with inferior ballistics). My personal choice given your desires would be the Nosler 142 g AccuBond, especially if you're trying to take advantage of the 6.5 PRC's inherent long-range capability.

The ELD-X shoots well, but it doesn't stay together very well. Bonded or monolitic copper bullets are the way to go for the OPs needs
