6.5PRC 20" barrel at 800 yards

I was wondering if anyone has taken 6.5PRC 20" barrel out to 800 yards or more. What loads have you used and what speeds are you getting. I have defiance tenacity LA with a carbon 6 barrel that is very accurate but I have not stretched out that far yet. Look for load recommendations.

I can’t help with 6.5 PRC but I have a 6.5SAUM improved with a 21” barrel that I have shot to a mile with 144 Berger LRHT and H1000 powder.

I ended up on 57gr H1000 w 147gr ELD.

I could get more speed with N565 but the H1000 load was more precise.

Your velocity at 800yards will be around 1800fps.

I’ve taken mine to 725 which is the max of my home range. Used 140vld at 3000fps muzzle. I’ll have to check what powder I used, been a while since I loaded for it.

147 ELDX.

I shoot 1k+ pretty regularly with my 21”.

I’m shooting factory 130 terminal ascents. I’m getting 2960 FPS in the 30s and right at 3k in the 80s.

Have taken is out to 900 with 20" suppressed with 147 ELDMS and N565. Very accurate. Running around 2950fps. Going to see how it works on deer and elk this year.

My brother has great luck with factory 147 ELDM ammo out of his 20” 6.5 PRC. He was shooting impressive groups out to 1100.

It was RL25. Had it on hand for 300wm and decided to try it. Shot better than H1000 for this rifle. Proof carbon barrel.

That is one heck of a shot.

I shot a whitetail doe a few weeks ago at 720-something with factory 147 ELDM, it died immediately.

I have shot steel pretty easily past 1100 with the same rifle.

I love it!

I love it so much I actually built a 7PRC on that same chassis. If you’re a backpack hunter, this is the cats meow.

I took my 20” 6.5PRC to a mile with factory ELDM. Was getting 2910fps, which is fast for out of a 20”.
