A buddy and I are building 6.5 SAUM +p on short 18" barrels. We plan to run the 147 eldm and are looking for info if anyone has any? I'm hoping to achieve the 2900fps mark or around there. Thanks for any info in advance

I’m having the same rifle built at Unknown. I am also interested in any info for this. I know Jake has built one of these that was improved. Is it worth doing the improved and forming brass? Or just going with +P?

I went improved with the +p. Just finished fire forming cases. Hopefully start load development late next week. I didn't see any reason to not go improved. The extra effort suits my OCD brain 🧠

What length of barrel did you go with? What bullets are you going to shoot. Keep us updated on your load development progress

I went 22 inch. Throated for 156 eol but will test 147 eldm as well.
I will share more after some testing. Hopefully my bushing will be here next week.

Have you had a chance to work on your load development yet? Post some pics of your build!
I have. Fire formed 100 cases then started load dev. Wrapped up final testing today with 156 Berger eol.
3068 fps, adg brass, 215 m primer, 65.5 grains of N565. Shot a .427 at 100 yesterday and a 1.5 at 500 today. So far I am extremely happy.

Damn, those are some good velocities for a 22". Very nice shooting to

I have a 20” 6.5 Sherman Max. It started life as a factory Tikka barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I had Kampfeld chop, thread, and rechamber it. I am still fire forming brass, but am getting close to 2900 fps from those loads. I am confident that I can get around 3050 with 147 grain ELDMs when I am done.

What exactly is a Sherman Max?

What exactly is a Sherman Max?

It is essentially a 6.5 SAUM Improved +P. It was designed by Rich Sherman. He has since sold his company to a couple of guys out of TX, but there are still reamers, dies, and headstamped ADG brass available for the round.

Search for Sherman Wildcats.

I know that their are a lot of people who have some issues with the Sherman line, because there are guys out there who pushing their cartridges pretty hard, but even when keeping it "between the lines", they are very good at what they do.
