Anyone shooting the 156 EOL in a 6.5 SAUM?

I’m in the process of building one with a 18.5” barrel and I’m planning on mostly running the 135 Berger Classic Hunter due to my past experience with that bullets performance and accuracy. That said, I’m interested in hearing about anyone running the 156. If so, what kind of speeds are you getting with what barrel length?

I have only stuck with the 140 gr berger in my 6.5 SAUM but it is a SA with the 0.88 fb so those fit pretty nicely. Not sure how much case capacity I would lose with a 156. They are running 3080 so haven’t had a reason to change but always like to play with new bullets!

My 6.5 saum loves 156s over retumbo on ADG brass and CCI 250s. My rifle has a 22 Bartlein SS barrel at 3000 fps.

My coal is around 3.080 medium length action, 26in 7.75tw, H1000, right at 3000fps jumping 0.025, N565 H1000 N570 all shot very well. Chamber has 0.215 freebore.

I’m having a 6.5 SAUM built on a Kimber 8400 WSM action with a 3.050 mag box. It’s going to have a 18.5” barrel. I’m hoping I can get 2800 with the 156.

You should be able, I’m getting 3000 fps out of a 22 barrel.

Got the rifle back from my gunsmith this week and I’ve been working on some load development. Working with the 156 and 135 over Magpro. Looks like I will be able to make 2750 to 2800 with the 18” barrel and 156s. 61 grains has shown the most promise so I’ve loaded several to test at distance. Still working on the 135 but 2900 should be easy to achieve. I will know more on Monday when the wind dies down some.
