Just had a 6.5 prc built for nrl hunter and target rifle to 1500 yards .

This will be my first time reloading

So i was wondering what bullets to try i want to stay in the 140 to feed from a short action

So far i have

Adg brass

Cci br 2 or fed 210 for primer

Rl-26 h1000 or n560 for powder

Thanks

Berger 140 Target Hybrid, 144 LRHT, 135 Classic Hunter
Hornady 140 ELDm, 147 ELDm, 135 ATip
Sierra 142 SMK

The PRC is essentially the same as my 6.5 SS. I'm running a Berger 156 at 2990 FPS. Been deadly so far. 8 shots and 8 dead animals. Stay off of the shoulder in closer ranges..... Several other good bullets.

ADG brass, fed 215M, N565 and Berger 140 hybrids produce 10 round groups like this in my PRC.
2950ish
22” benchmark barrel

What gun and are you loading mag lenght? Thanks
Tikka 6.5 PRC, I had it throated so it's ~.050" off the lands with bottom edge of bearing surface is seated to neck/shoulder junction. But in the factory chamber with a shorter throat I just loaded .030" off the lands and it shot fine there too.

Suppressed- 2860 avg in freezing temps, 2900 in hot weather. Barrel chopped at the flutes so about 21-1/2" length from the shoulder.
Nice. I’ve just started with N565 powder, but so far have found it to be slow. What’s your charge weight?

It's most definitely slow if you're using VV load data :ROFLMAO:. With fireformed ADG I'm at 56.5gr (easy to remember, lol) and it's been smooth sailing in all temps. I found it was about equal to H1000, maybe a bit faster but more consistent groups. You know the drill, work up safely.

I think I've chatted with @Harvey_NW on the other 6.5 PRC threads, but I'm shooting the 147 ELDM out of a 20" barrel at 2810 MV. That's with 56.5 gr of N565 also. I'm using Norma brass, so it's pretty soft and higher volume than the ADG. I still get a faint ejector mark occasionally when it's real hot out or wet, so I'm going to load my rounds for this season at 56 gr to give me a little more wiggle room. Should put me around 2780 MV, which is plenty for the distances I'm hunting at.

Lol. Yeah, I learned real quick that their data was low. I think I’ve about maxed my speed cause case fill is about maxed out. I think my RL26 loads are faster. I’m using a 142 grain ABLR bullet, fwiw.

I use H1000 and 142ABLR. My Nephew uses the same load. Going to load my niece new 6.5 PRC with the same load and see if her rifle shoots it well. I get 2879.5 FPS from my 24" barrel and my nephew gets a little less in his 22" barrel. My load is on the lighter side 56.8 I think, but that is what was the most accurate for my rifle. Picture below of my groups. I'm at .050" from lands I believe my nephew was .025" from lands. We have hit out to 800 yards with them. Very accurate and terminal performance has been great as well. Highly recommend. With the 1300fps minimum velocity, bullet can perform just about any range at game.

I think these are one of the more underrated bullets because of the long range at the end of them. These were the first bullets I tried. First with Retumbo and it just wasn't that great speed wise. Then switched to h1000 and got more speed and accuracy. It's a great combination in my rifle. I've dropped everything except 1 deer that went 30 yards. Blood trail was great too. Picture is 7 shots. 4 shots in diamond for final zero.
