Snagged a tikka 6.5 prc on holidays. Only powder I can reliably find is staball hd.

Anyone have loads and expected velocity with 143 eldx?

Hodgdon's website has some loads. In the same boat as you, I bought the same powder and will load some up tomorrow.

Thanks Bob! Yea I checked the load data there. What I’m really trying to gauge is if the velocity is actually there before I jump down the rabbit hole.

I ran into a few guys at the range that were shooting tikka ctr with factory 147 match and only getting just north of 2800fps. That’s really not much more than a creed so was disappointed.

I'm getting 2990 with a 143 bondstrike and staball hd. I'll have to go look at my grains if you want that.

Following along here. Really enjoying the new Winchester ball powders and how accurately they measure out of a powder dropper.

Ran a pressure test on my Roughtech this last weekend starting at 57gr and working up to 60gr with StaBALL HD with Hornady 1x brass and 215Ms. Didn’t get crazy velocity but it didn’t hit pressure either, I think either Hornady or Hogdon lists 60.1gr as book max for 143gr bullets. Pretty sure the barrel is just a fat kid and doesn’t run as fast as some others on here 🤷

I’d be curious what kind of powder charges everyone is running that is getting above 2900fps.

Chrono screenshot, shot 1 is 57gr and increases .5gr per shot to 60gr at shot 7.

That’s crazy low how long is your barrel? Assuming 24.5?

Got out today with new tikka prc and under max charge of staball hd 60.1 an abysmal 2860. Got up to 2930 ish over book max.

Wondering now how much more I can just squeeze out of the creed…

Maybe try a magnum primer I've seen 120fps gain in my creedmoor by shooting magnum over large rifle. Don't do this at max charge. Start in the middle and see what you gain then work up from there
They are even harder to find than large rifle up here. One of the reasons I went with the 6.5 PRC was load data called for non magnum primers.

I got a Sako s20 in 6.5prc, have tried h1000 with 147gr eldm, 150gr ablr, 156gr eol, with lapua brass and fed210. Stiff bolt lift at book max for all three, 2900fps for the 147s at about 57gr, 2850fps for 150s at 57gr, 2800fps with 156 at like 56gr about if memory recalls. Not sure if the Sako/tikka barrels are just slower but mines the 24.3" length. 170rnd on barrel so hopefully will speed up a bit. The 143gr eldx and h4831sc can get 2850fps at 1gr under max I think it was 54gr? I'd have to check my book. But I'm seeing similar numbers as you guys with my Sako. I do want to try staball hd to practice with an save the h1000 for hunting with the better temp consistency.
