What kind of velocities are you all seeing from your 6.5 Creedmoor rifles with barrels shorter than 18 inches? And have you switched to lighter bullets to compensate for the reduced speed? Ty

Go to this thread, and under the search button, select ‘This Thread’ and search for your barrel length, such as

18”

And you will find many.

Wait for the 6.5 +peak ammo to drop.

20" barrel but still relevant if you reload.

First load for the gun was 140 ELDM, max load of H4350 they shot at 2604.

Newest load was 143 ELDX, Max load of Stabll 6.5 they shot 2720. I gained over 100 fps with a heavier bullet and hotter powder. Im sure I could get quite a bit more velocity out of it by seating further out and adding more powder, I just dont care since it shoots so good.

18”, Factory hornady match almost exactly 2600fps. That carries comfortably terminal velocity well past 600 yards even at low altitude, so it's a total non-issue for me. The barnes lrx I hunt with carries conservative terminal velocity past 400. Again thats as much as I need, but thats the only reason I havent gone shorter. Dont really need or want higher velocity.
