6.5 Creedmoor Hornady 140 ELDM for Bull Elk

He didn’t last long after the follow up but that’s not my main concern. I just don’t like bullets that blow up, period. In the past, I’ve blown up core lokt (trash), and partitions as well. The vast majority of my rifle kills are under 100yds and I need a bullet for that specifically (mono). The 6prc is not the ideal caliber for close range anyway IMO. Got the rifle for wolves but wanted to put some miles on it during elk season.
The wound channel through the lungs was surprisingly small, with a quarter-sized exit hole. Most of the energy was lost in the first few inches of penetration.
How do you blow up a partition? Have always heard the back partition of those always drives through.

Yeah, the ass usually holds together but the front 2/3 can blow up. Partitions were actually my favorite bullet before I went to monos. I made a few nice mushrooms with them. My dad and grandpa shot them and they killed plenty of animals with them.

The reality is just about any bullet in any legal caliber will kill an elk if you respect the limitations. Humans have been killing elk with pointy sticks for thousands of years. Dudes just like to nerd out about their favorite flavor of projectile. Like I said, I just don’t like the flavor of lead anymore.
