6.5 CM or .243

I've always loved the .243 for Pronghorn! Almost like it was built for it! Keep in mind your range. 450 yards is my personal max with a .243...got the bullet back fully expanded inside the hide on the offside.

EVERY ranch in WY has a .243 sitting in a safe, cabinet, or rack SOMEWHERE and it's been used alot

Evey old school goat Hunter has a 243....but the new kid on the block is 6.5. I love my 243 but the 6.5 is really nice for wind and added distance.

Switched to the 6.5 due to how I shoot with it and what I feel is a round I can use on more game.

You can always look at the 6CM and get a little bit of both..

243 ammo is everywhere.
6.5 Creedmoor ammo is becoming more abundant
6 Creedmoor ammo is very hit or miss

shot a lot of antelope with a 243 all the way up to 340 WBY. Then my dad built my son a 6.5 creed that with the right bullet puts antelope down hard. At the time he built it you couldn't find ammo anywhere, there is a reason that little caliber is so popular. In the end its the rifle you shoot the best. I got drawn for elk in Wyoming in 2000 I wanted to shoot 150 grain barnes out of my 270WBY but I couldn't get a load worked up that was even close to the 130 ended up shooting 130 grain bullet. Had total confidence in that round ended up putting 3 shots in the sweet spot at 465 yards.

6.5 if the caliber was the only variable. But as pointed out in several posts, if you shoot the 243 best, go with that. Having lived in WY for 10 years I found that if there was no wind, I would have trouble walking! So if you take your 243, spot and stalk, get into a comfortable range, and wind will not be a factor. Your 243 will drop them, no problem.
