Would a 6.5-7 prc reamer clean up a factory 6.5 prc chamber? after I finish toasting this howa carbon prc barrel I was thinking if this would or could clean it up I might get a little more life out of it before going full rebarrel.

By the time you TRULY shoot out that 6.5 PRC barrel, I don’t think the extra 1/4” of clean chamber would do anything. It would be an absolute waste of money in the grande scheme. Just get a new barrel and start fresh. Regular steel barrel is about $450. It’d be money well spent at that point.

Here they are side by side. 7 PRC is .258” longer than 6.5 PRC

The shoulder of 65prc is same diameter as a 7prc shoulder, but the 7 shoulder is further forward, so it should clean up, but it won't be by a lot. Overbore fire breather? I'd get a new barrel

maybe it’s just me but I don’t see the point. It seems really inefficient to push a 147 200fps faster than a 6.5 PRC with 10 grains more powder. Not sure the juice is worth the squeeze

Same comparison as a 6.5 CM vs. a 6.5 PRC.

Looks like most people are running a 22” barrel, has anyone run a 20” barrel? If anyone has, what have the pros/cons of the 20” barrel been? Is the 20” barrel too short for the horse power?

This seems like a very interesting cartridge, has anyone ran it with a longer barrel like the 264wm (26”-30”) Im curious of the velocity potential with the 153gr LRHT as well as Hammer solids with appropriate powders like n568, n570, or retumbo

I shot the 156’s (same pressure as 153 basically) with 68.5gr. N570 for 3110-3130fps out of a 25” barrel.

Impressive. Extrapolating off of that, and assuming a 20 fps per inch, 3225 fps may be doable with a 30” and N570. Does that seem possible with your experience?

I built a 264WM Improved and regularly run 156 Bergers at 3250 with a 28” Proof 8 twist barrel using N570 but the original barrel only lasted 650 rounds.

I’ve actually hit almost 3400fps with a case full of Ramshot LRT.

Did you ever run it with a more calm powder? 650-750 is about what I expect with n570. Hoping for a little bit more with rl33, h1000, ramshot magnum. I bet those were a fun 650 rounds.

RL33 would match N570. Not sure if it’s any easier on throats though. H1000 and Retumbo would pressure out in the low 3100s and I couldn’t get case fill I wanted.

H1000 was 120fps slower than N570 for me. Still shot good though.
