Took the rifle out last Saturday . Shot it at 946 yards, all bullets (147 ELD-M's) made it to the target. Shot about 2" elevation. Used a G7 bc of .316, 3090 for velocity and 6.0 mils for elevation. It shot .4 mils flatter than a 300 PRC using a 208 Hybrid target at 2880 fps.

Thanks! Impressive results

Took the rifle out today and chronoed it. Developed the load in 85 degree heat and the load was at 3100 fps. Today it was 25 degrees and chronoed 3077 fps. At 85 the ES was 1.7, SD .7 . At 25 ES 9 SD 3.8. Both 3 round strings.

Thinking about doing this myself. My 6.5 PRC barreled action is currently at Kampfeld getting cut down from 24” to 20”, and I’m contemplating having him go in with a reamer, if he has one. It’s a Sako S20 so removing the bolt stop should do the trick for the longer cartridge. Anybody want to talk me out of this?

I’m still on the fence of doing this with a take off creed barrel or just building a 6um ahh tough decisions the lower recoil with the 6 um sounds better at the moment tho

I've been playing with a 6.5-7PRC lately. It seems cool enough. 10 more grains of powder for 150-200fps over a 6.5 PRC. That's just how the overbore game goes though IMO. Big increases for small gains. But it seems like it'll be solid. I just ordered a 26" barrel to shoot 156's possibly with N570 when the lapua brass comes out. Saving that barrel for a new lot of brass.

Currently have a 22" barrel and headed out soon to do a pressure test with 156's and H1000, N565 and N570.

I shot the 140 hybrids comfortable at 3100FPS in my 22" barrel with 68gr. H1000 and a 210M.

You feel like 200 fps is about the expected average over the 6.5 PRC then? I feel like I’ve seen that number floated around a good bit. In that case, if I can get 3050 with the 147’s from a 20” barrel I’d be pretty happy.

I’ve had 4 6.5 PRC’s. They all realistically topped out with pressure in a 24” barrel with a 140 class bullet at 2950fps with H1000, N565 and 4831SC.

This gun went 3100 with a 140 in a 22” with H1000.

I think you’d have to reach for N570 to get a 147 guaranteed at 3050 in a 20” barrel.

I wouldn’t have a problem with that since N570 is easier to attain right now. I’m relatively new to this so forgive any ignorance in the questions, but do you think I’d get a complete burn with N570 out of a 20”? I’ve heard people theorize about power peppering the back of the bullet as it exits the muzzle if there’s a substantial amount of unburned powder, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to know if that’s actually valid.
